Like Star Wars without stars, or chocolate chip cookies without \u00a0chocolate. So, we&#8217;re gonna make a cave tile today.<\/p>\n<p><!--more-->First, we&#8217;re gonna render a cave floor texture and a cave wall texture using <a href=\"http:\/\/www.filterforge.com\/?affiliateid=200100725\" target=\"_blank\">FilterForge<\/a>. The floor texture that looks like this is made with the beta version of FilterForge 2.0, which will ship closer to christmas I guess.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/4eyes.code66.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/11\/cw1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-1331\" title=\"cw1\" src=\"http:\/\/4eyes.code66.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/11\/cw1.jpg\" alt=\"cw1\" width=\"300\" height=\"300\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Using one of the new features of FilterForge 2.0, bombers, I created this rather good looking cave floor, or mine floor as it looks worked, you can almost see where the stone has been worked by the goblin slave miners.<\/p>\n<p>Second, we need s cave wall, and I made a filter for the <em>old<\/em> FilterForge some time ago that suits this perfectly.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/4eyes.code66.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/11\/cw2.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-1332\" title=\"cw2\" src=\"http:\/\/4eyes.code66.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/11\/cw2.jpg\" alt=\"cw2\" width=\"300\" height=\"300\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>This cave wall looks full of mold, fungi and other interesting things normally found in DnD caves.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/4eyes.code66.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/11\/cw3.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-1330\" title=\"cw3\" src=\"http:\/\/4eyes.code66.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/11\/cw3.jpg\" alt=\"cw3\" width=\"350\" height=\"349\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>So, we start up <a href=\"http:\/\/www.omnigroup.com\/applications\/omnigraffle\/\" target=\"_blank\">OmniGraffle<\/a> again, and put in the cave floor, make it 6&#215;6 inches.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/4eyes.code66.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/11\/cw4.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-1329\" title=\"cw4\" src=\"http:\/\/4eyes.code66.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/11\/cw4.jpg\" alt=\"cw4\" width=\"350\" height=\"346\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Then we use the poly-object and create what will be the wall. To align the outer straight lines, switch on the snap to grid and adjust those points. The default setting I happened to have was with shadows, so turn off any shadows, and any stroke.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/4eyes.code66.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/11\/cw5.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-1328\" title=\"cw5\" src=\"http:\/\/4eyes.code66.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/11\/cw5.png\" alt=\"cw5\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/4eyes.code66.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/11\/cw5.png\"><\/a>Now I used yet another FilterForge filter that creates small fussy parts like this. I have described this in a previous post, but they are good to create walls and slopes with.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/4eyes.code66.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/11\/cw6.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-1327\" title=\"cw6\" src=\"http:\/\/4eyes.code66.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/11\/cw6.jpg\" alt=\"cw6\" width=\"350\" height=\"361\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/4eyes.code66.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/11\/cw6.jpg\"><\/a>We create a new layer and make something like this using three different fuzzy pieces, and add additional shadows to them as well.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/4eyes.code66.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/11\/cw7.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-1326\" title=\"cw7\" src=\"http:\/\/4eyes.code66.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/11\/cw7.jpg\" alt=\"cw7\" width=\"129\" height=\"225\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>If you look close, you see that the shadow bleed out beyond out border, which makes the tile in need of trimming after rendering, this can be fixed by setting the canvas size in OmniGraffle to 6&#215;6 inches, the same size as the tile we&#8217;re making.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/4eyes.code66.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/11\/cw8.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-1325\" title=\"cw8\" src=\"http:\/\/4eyes.code66.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/11\/cw8.jpg\" alt=\"cw8\" width=\"236\" height=\"154\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Using the canvas size setup, select inches and then set the size.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/4eyes.code66.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/11\/cw9.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-1324\" title=\"cw9\" src=\"http:\/\/4eyes.code66.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/11\/cw9.jpg\" alt=\"cw9\" width=\"384\" height=\"210\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Then, when exporting to a JPEG, choose <strong><em>Current Canvas<\/em><\/strong>, and it will be trimmed exactly.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/4eyes.code66.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/11\/cw-final.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-1323\" title=\"cw-final\" src=\"http:\/\/4eyes.code66.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/11\/cw-final.jpg\" alt=\"cw-final\" width=\"432\" height=\"432\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>So, this is out final piece, looks pretty nice.
