And we start out with making some chests.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>First, I create a chest texture filter in <a href=\"http:\/\/www.filterforge.com\/?affiliateid=200100725\" target=\"_blank\">FilterForge<\/a>, as I&#8217;ve said before, I cannot paint, but if it can be scripted or programmed, I&#8217;m in the game again.<\/p>\n<p>So, this is what I came up with.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/4eyes.code66.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/11\/ch00.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-1691 alignnone\" title=\"ch00\" src=\"http:\/\/4eyes.code66.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/11\/ch00.jpg\" alt=\"ch00\" width=\"240\" height=\"240\" \/><\/a><a href=\"http:\/\/4eyes.code66.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/11\/ch01.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-1692 alignnone\" title=\"ch01\" src=\"http:\/\/4eyes.code66.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/11\/ch01.jpg\" alt=\"ch01\" width=\"240\" height=\"240\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>A lighter chest texture plus a bump map.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/4eyes.code66.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/11\/ch02.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-1690\" title=\"ch02\" src=\"http:\/\/4eyes.code66.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/11\/ch02.jpg\" alt=\"ch02\" width=\"240\" height=\"240\" \/><\/a><a href=\"http:\/\/4eyes.code66.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/11\/ch03.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-1689\" title=\"ch03\" src=\"http:\/\/4eyes.code66.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/11\/ch03.jpg\" alt=\"ch03\" width=\"240\" height=\"240\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>And a darker version with joined planks.<\/p>\n<p>So, lets start <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cheetah3D.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Cheetah3D<\/a>, and create a cylinder, the base of most of my organisms in the map making universe.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/4eyes.code66.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/11\/ch04.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-1688\" title=\"ch04\" src=\"http:\/\/4eyes.code66.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/11\/ch04.jpg\" alt=\"ch04\" width=\"381\" height=\"377\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Our classic basic cylinder. Now create a texture material based on one of the two textures we have, and apply that to the cylinder, and then shape the cylinder a little like this.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-1687\" title=\"ch05\" src=\"http:\/\/4eyes.code66.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/11\/ch05.jpg\" alt=\"ch05\" width=\"251\" height=\"326\" \/><\/p>\n<p>And the camera view in the modeler is used to adjust the texture with the UV mapper.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/4eyes.code66.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/11\/ch06.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-1686\" title=\"ch06\" src=\"http:\/\/4eyes.code66.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/11\/ch06.jpg\" alt=\"ch06\" width=\"450\" height=\"278\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>And we render it, change the material and render again, and again. We then use <a href=\"http:\/\/www.omnigroup.com\/applications\/omnigraffle\/\" target=\"_blank\">OmniGraffle<\/a> to apply some drop shadow, and this is the result:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/4eyes.code66.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/12\/chests.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-1745\" title=\"chests\" src=\"http:\/\/4eyes.code66.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/12\/chests.jpg\" alt=\"chests\" width=\"593\" height=\"144\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Three nice mundane chests.
