{"id":1703,"date":"2009-12-03T08:04:31","date_gmt":"2009-12-03T06:04:31","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/4eyes.code66.se\/?p=1703"},"modified":"2009-12-03T08:42:36","modified_gmt":"2009-12-03T06:42:36","slug":"things-for-the-common-home-tables","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/4eyes.code66.se\/?p=1703","title":{"rendered":"Things for the common home &#8211; tables"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I think I like the idea of common home mundane items, so I&#8217;ll keep that course of actions until I figure out something else, and I will do items needed for the maps I am working on, so each item will be seen in action, maybe not directly, but sooner or later.<\/p>\n<p><!--more-->Today we&#8217;re gonna make some tables, that can work both as tables, or as the top of a commoners armoire or wardrobe. These are items that you really need as your players constantly point out thing lik<em>e<\/em><em> <strong>Wasn&#8217;t that the chest in Sir Mordaks room?<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p>We start off by render a bunch of textures in <a href=\"http:\/\/www.filterforge.com\/?affiliateid=200100725\" target=\"_blank\">FilterForge<\/a>, using a few different filters, among them <a href=\"http:\/\/www.filterforge.com\/filters\/7996.html\" target=\"_blank\">cottage log wall<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.filterforge.com\/filters\/7559.html\" target=\"_blank\">aged wooden floor<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.filterforge.com\/filters\/284.html\" target=\"_blank\">wood<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Here is one texture and texture map.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/4eyes.code66.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/12\/ta01.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-1704\" title=\"ta01\" src=\"http:\/\/4eyes.code66.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/12\/ta01.jpg\" alt=\"ta01\" width=\"300\" height=\"300\" \/><\/a><a href=\"http:\/\/4eyes.code66.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/12\/ta02.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-1705\" title=\"ta02\" src=\"http:\/\/4eyes.code66.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/12\/ta02.jpg\" alt=\"ta02\" width=\"300\" height=\"300\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Now we start up <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cheetah3d.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Cheetah3D<\/a> (<em>version 5.1 came today btw, nice update<\/em>), and create a box, that we reshape to the shape of a table surface.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/4eyes.code66.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/12\/ta03.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-1706\" title=\"ta03\" src=\"http:\/\/4eyes.code66.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/12\/ta03.jpg\" alt=\"ta03\" width=\"400\" height=\"279\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>When we make a polygon object from this, we set the polygon count to 10, so we can use the Catmull-Clark subdivide effect to make it a little nicer.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/4eyes.code66.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/12\/ta04.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-1707\" title=\"ta04\" src=\"http:\/\/4eyes.code66.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/12\/ta04.jpg\" alt=\"ta04\" width=\"400\" height=\"254\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>And then, after applying the Catmull-Clark, we create materials from the textures we just made, six different materials.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/4eyes.code66.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/12\/ta05.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-1708\" title=\"ta05\" src=\"http:\/\/4eyes.code66.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/12\/ta05.jpg\" alt=\"ta05\" width=\"450\" height=\"281\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Using the UV-mapper so we get the natural table border in a way that we do not get a small piece of plank at the edge of the table.
