I&#8217;ll stop the chatter and dive straight down to the dirty work.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>So, back with <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cheetah3d.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Cheetah3D<\/a>, we open the model from yesterday. But wait, we need a texture for the wheel, so we launch <a href=\"http:\/\/www.filterforge.com\/?affiliateid=200100725\" target=\"_blank\">FilterForge<\/a>, and look for a good sand stone texture filter, which I found.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/4eyes.code66.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/12\/pw07.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-2148\" title=\"pw07\" src=\"http:\/\/4eyes.code66.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/12\/pw07.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"334\" height=\"334\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Now, we create a cylinder, make it flat and place it for the bottom wheel, the wheel that will keep the smaller wheel spinning. We also add the cross bar through which the axis that connects the wheels goes.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/4eyes.code66.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/12\/pw08.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-2149\" title=\"pw08\" src=\"http:\/\/4eyes.code66.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/12\/pw08.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"334\" height=\"267\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>We need to cut away the cross bars edges, using the box and boolean standard operation.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/4eyes.code66.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/12\/pw09.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-2150\" title=\"pw09\" src=\"http:\/\/4eyes.code66.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/12\/pw09.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"334\" height=\"256\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Now, we clone the large wheel, size it smaller, move it up and make a Catmull-Clark subdivide to give it a better shape.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/4eyes.code66.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/12\/pw10.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-2151\" title=\"pw10\" src=\"http:\/\/4eyes.code66.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/12\/pw10.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"334\" height=\"339\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>We add the axis down, and the foot pedals for pumping the rotation of the wheel by foot.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/4eyes.code66.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/12\/pw11.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-2152\" title=\"pw11\" src=\"http:\/\/4eyes.code66.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/12\/pw11.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"334\" height=\"311\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Time to render,a nd we add a HDRI map so the metal will get this nice and shiny look. After the final render we add some drop shadow using <a href=\"http:\/\/www.omnigroup.com\/applications\/omnigraffle\/\" target=\"_blank\">OmniGraffle<\/a>, and size the item to be about 4 feet wide in the world of Dundjinni.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/4eyes.code66.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/12\/pw12.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-2153\" title=\"pw12\" src=\"http:\/\/4eyes.code66.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/12\/pw12.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"450\" height=\"618\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>This was fun, to recreate something real, hope you liked it as much as I did.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>So, we&#8217;re back with the potters wheel today.
