(Yes, you have it on you map players, <em>Great Marshes<\/em> or did you miss that?)<\/p>\n<p><!--more-->So, first, I was looking at the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.dundjinni.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Dundjinni<\/a> Forum, and found a lot of great marsh stuff. Dead trees by DragonWolf, swamp textures by SuperCaptain and some more stuff.<\/p>\n<p>So, I went to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cgtextures.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">CGTextures<\/a>, searching for a dead grass texture, and found this one, perfect.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/4eyes.code66.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/02\/bog01.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-2977\" title=\"bog01\" src=\"http:\/\/4eyes.code66.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/02\/bog01.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"450\" height=\"303\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>So, now I start ImageSynth, to convert this photo into a seamless tiling texture. I just made a quick shot and it worked very well.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/4eyes.code66.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/02\/bog02.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-2976\" title=\"bog02\" src=\"http:\/\/4eyes.code66.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/02\/bog02.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"450\" height=\"450\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>So, now I \u00a0needed some more edges, I&#8217;ve used my other ones so much on the Westport maps, I&#8217;m bored with them, so I browsed around on CGTextures and found this nice one in the grass section, a perfect edge, actually, I found two different ones.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/4eyes.code66.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/02\/bog03.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-2975\" title=\"bog03\" src=\"http:\/\/4eyes.code66.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/02\/bog03.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"450\" height=\"297\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Cutting pieces of that edge, and blurring the edges with my Cistinator filter in <a href=\"http:\/\/www.filterforge.com\/?affiliateid=200100725\" target=\"_blank\">FilterForge<\/a>, I got a bunch of nice edge pieces to use.<\/p>\n<p>I start up <a href=\"http:\/\/www.omnigroup.com\/applications\/omnigraffle\/\" target=\"_blank\">OmniGraffle<\/a>, to create a full bog piece or a few there, instead of making each and everyone in Dundjinni. First, I draw a path to outline the bog, having 1&#8243; grid in the background to get the size correct. Then I add the tiling grass texture to it.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/4eyes.code66.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/02\/bog04.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-2974\" title=\"bog04\" src=\"http:\/\/4eyes.code66.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/02\/bog04.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"311\" height=\"395\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Now, I create a new layer, and add all the edge pieces, rotate them and mix and match to ge a nice look.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/4eyes.code66.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/02\/bog05.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-2973\" title=\"bog05\" src=\"http:\/\/4eyes.code66.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/02\/bog05.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"350\" height=\"417\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Now, I render it out, then I run a small FilterForge filter to make the edges a little less opaque, so they hopefully look a little submerged in the filthy swamp water.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/4eyes.code66.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/02\/bog06.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-2972\" title=\"bog06\" src=\"http:\/\/4eyes.code66.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/02\/bog06.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"350\" height=\"408\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Here is one, as JPEG on white.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/4eyes.code66.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/02\/bog07.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-2971\" title=\"bog07\" src=\"http:\/\/4eyes.code66.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/02\/bog07.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"350\" height=\"368\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>And here is another one.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/4eyes.code66.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/02\/bog08.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-2970\" title=\"bog08\" src=\"http:\/\/4eyes.code66.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/02\/bog08.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"450\" height=\"549\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>And this is a little piece of the swamp map, made in Dundjinni, using some dundjinni items as well as many other items, and the swamp floor by SuperCaptain.<\/p>\n<p>I really hope this scares the shit out of my players \ud83d\ude09<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>So, I&#8217;m working on the adventure The heart of gods &#8211; part three, and I need some interesting marshes or swamps.
