{"id":4056,"date":"2010-05-17T07:00:00","date_gmt":"2010-05-17T05:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/4eyes.code66.se\/?p=4056"},"modified":"2010-05-04T16:04:03","modified_gmt":"2010-05-04T14:04:03","slug":"making-an-egyptian-wine-press-final-part","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/4eyes.code66.se\/?p=4056","title":{"rendered":"Making an Egyptian wine press &#8211; final part"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Everything must come to an end, and I won&#8217;t be making more wine presses for a while, thats for sure, but it has been a pretty fun experience, and useful.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><a href=\"http:\/\/4eyes.code66.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/05\/wptwo5-01.jpg\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>I said a few days ago, I would love to taste the wine after some agin in a barrel, so let us make one.We start <a href=\"http:\/\/www.filterforge.com\/?affiliateid=200100725\" target=\"_blank\">FilterForge<\/a> and render yet another striped wood texture with my new favorite filter.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/4eyes.code66.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/05\/wptwo5-01.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-4066\" title=\"wptwo5-01\" src=\"http:\/\/4eyes.code66.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/05\/wptwo5-01.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"450\" height=\"450\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The diffuse map.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/4eyes.code66.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/05\/wptwo5-02.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-4065\" title=\"wptwo5-02\" src=\"http:\/\/4eyes.code66.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/05\/wptwo5-02.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"450\" height=\"450\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>And the bump map.<\/p>\n<p>Now, we start <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cheetah3d.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Cheetah3D<\/a> and create a cylinder.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/4eyes.code66.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/05\/wptwo5-03.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-4064\" title=\"wptwo5-03\" src=\"http:\/\/4eyes.code66.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/05\/wptwo5-03.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"216\" height=\"217\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Doing the copy, move, shrink and boolean remove operation, we got a base for the barrel.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/4eyes.code66.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/05\/wptwo5-04.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-4063\" title=\"wptwo5-04\" src=\"http:\/\/4eyes.code66.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/05\/wptwo5-04.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"229\" height=\"296\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>We bulge it a little, then we<\/p>\n<p>add the texture to it and UV-map it cylinder mapped.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/4eyes.code66.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/05\/wptwo5-05.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-4062\" title=\"wptwo5-05\" src=\"http:\/\/4eyes.code66.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/05\/wptwo5-05.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"450\" height=\"464\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Now, we create a circular plane, add the wine &#8220;water&#8221; texture to it, size it to fit inside the barrel.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/4eyes.code66.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/05\/wptwo5-06.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-4061\" title=\"wptwo5-06\" src=\"http:\/\/4eyes.code66.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/05\/wptwo5-06.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"397\" height=\"442\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Now, a small pipe that we will use as the iron ring, center iron ring.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/4eyes.code66.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/05\/wptwo5-07.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-4060\" title=\"wptwo5-07\" src=\"http:\/\/4eyes.code66.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/05\/wptwo5-07.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"409\" height=\"488\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>We tighten it up, and move it into the dead center.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/4eyes.code66.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/05\/wptwo5-08.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-4059\" title=\"wptwo5-08\" src=\"http:\/\/4eyes.code66.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/05\/wptwo5-08.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"207\" height=\"256\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>We copy that ring, and taper it to fit on the curved surface of the barrel. We also add a brushed metal texture to it, not rusty, it is a brand new barrel.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/4eyes.code66.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/05\/wptwo5-09.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-4058\" title=\"wptwo5-09\" src=\"http:\/\/4eyes.code66.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/05\/wptwo5-09.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"397\" height=\"468\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>We copy that last ring, rotate 180 degrees around the z-axis and move it down, we&#8217;re done.
