I&#8217;m working on some side tiles for <strong>The Neverending Docks<\/strong>, which can be used for the natural lakeside tiles.<\/p>\n<p><!--more-->I build all tiles for the Neverending series in <a href=\"http:\/\/www.omnigroup.com\/applications\/omnigraffle\/\" target=\"_blank\">OmniGraffle<\/a>, so this is no exception.<br \/>\nWe start with an empty tile with just the background from the coastal tile. The texture comes from <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cgtextures.com\/\">CGTextures<\/a> and was already tiled.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/4eyes.code66.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/05\/hole01.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-4095\" title=\"hole01\" src=\"http:\/\/4eyes.code66.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/05\/hole01.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"340\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>For the hole, I will be using some stone smudges I&#8217;ve done before, also from images from CGTextures. Here are two of them.<br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/4eyes.code66.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/05\/hole02.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-4094\" title=\"hole02\" src=\"http:\/\/4eyes.code66.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/05\/hole02.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"310\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/4eyes.code66.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/05\/hole03.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-4093\" title=\"hole03\" src=\"http:\/\/4eyes.code66.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/05\/hole03.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"329\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>First I place some of those smudges, the ones with least rock side look on the tile, rotating them a little randomly.<br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/4eyes.code66.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/05\/hole04.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-4092\" title=\"hole04\" src=\"http:\/\/4eyes.code66.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/05\/hole04.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"331\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Then I place the rock side ones in a circle, rotating them so they look like they are a part of a side.<br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/4eyes.code66.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/05\/hole05.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-4091\" title=\"hole05\" src=\"http:\/\/4eyes.code66.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/05\/hole05.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"268\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Now, I just need a hole, and I tried to use the gradient fill in OmniGraffle, but that gives a too sharp edge, and the gradient is linear, so I made a very quick filter in <a href=\"http:\/\/www.filterforge.com\/?affiliateid=200100725\" target=\"_blank\">FilterForge 2.0<\/a> to do this, as it has circular gradients now.\u00a0Here it is<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/4eyes.code66.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/05\/hole06.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-4090\" title=\"hole06\" src=\"http:\/\/4eyes.code66.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/05\/hole06.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"300\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Now, adding this hole over the stone pile I just made, we got this:<br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/4eyes.code66.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/05\/hole07.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-4089\" title=\"hole07\" src=\"http:\/\/4eyes.code66.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/05\/hole07.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"309\" \/><\/a><br \/>\nWow, we got a hole in the ground. Now, I add some details props around it.<br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/4eyes.code66.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/05\/hole08.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-4088\" title=\"hole08\" src=\"http:\/\/4eyes.code66.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/05\/hole08.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"330\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>OK, now just add some more stuff, and a rope ladder, and we got something that looks really nice.<br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/4eyes.code66.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/05\/hole09.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-4087\" title=\"hole09\" src=\"http:\/\/4eyes.code66.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/05\/hole09.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"325\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>I hope you liked this little hole making, I did like it anyway.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>This sounds rather stupid don&#8217;t you say, making a hole in the ground, but that is just what we will do today.
