I haven&#8217;t bothered with modern style filters before, so I spent some time browsing the filter repository.<\/p>\n<p>First, a coach floor using my own lacquered wooden floor filter, still going strong.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/4eyes.code66.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/05\/tw1-01.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-4158\" title=\"tw1-01\" src=\"http:\/\/4eyes.code66.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/05\/tw1-01.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"400\" height=\"400\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Secondly, I used Mike Blackney&#8217;s great diamond plate filter.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/4eyes.code66.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/05\/tw1-02.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-4157\" title=\"tw1-02\" src=\"http:\/\/4eyes.code66.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/05\/tw1-02.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"400\" height=\"400\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>And third, I used Carl&#8217;s fabulous railroad tracks \u00a0filter.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/4eyes.code66.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/05\/tw1-03.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-4156\" title=\"tw1-03\" src=\"http:\/\/4eyes.code66.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/05\/tw1-03.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"400\" height=\"400\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>That is a good start. Now, I needed to model a buffer for the train, you know that thing at the end of a coach or a locomotive that does chock absorption when breaking a train.<\/p>\n<p>I start up good old dependable <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cheetah3d.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Cheetah3D<\/a>. What a surprise, I start out with a cube.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/4eyes.code66.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/05\/tw1-04.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-4155\" title=\"tw1-04\" src=\"http:\/\/4eyes.code66.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/05\/tw1-04.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"400\" height=\"400\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>I shape it rather flat, then set the polygon count to 20x20x20 before I make it an editable object.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/4eyes.code66.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/05\/tw1-05.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-4154\" title=\"tw1-05\" src=\"http:\/\/4eyes.code66.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/05\/tw1-05.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"348\" height=\"329\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Now, I use the Bend tool, to bend it like this.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/4eyes.code66.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/05\/tw1-06.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-4153\" title=\"tw1-06\" src=\"http:\/\/4eyes.code66.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/05\/tw1-06.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"400\" height=\"312\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>I add a cylinder to be where the spring is mounted that causes the buffers to always touch each other to avoid a jerky ride.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/4eyes.code66.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/05\/tw1-07.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-4152\" title=\"tw1-07\" src=\"http:\/\/4eyes.code66.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/05\/tw1-07.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"400\" height=\"362\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Now I add another cube that I Catmul-Clark subdivide for the right smoothness.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/4eyes.code66.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/05\/tw1-08.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-4151\" title=\"tw1-08\" src=\"http:\/\/4eyes.code66.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/05\/tw1-08.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"400\" height=\"361\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Here it is, with that old metal texture.
