We start by editing the cracked filter we made for <a href=\"http:\/\/www.filterforge.com\/?affiliateid=200100725\" target=\"_blank\">FilterForge<\/a> yesterday.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--> <a href=\"http:\/\/4eyes.code66.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/07\/pil20.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-4554\" title=\"pil20\" src=\"http:\/\/4eyes.code66.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/07\/pil20.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"450\" height=\"267\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>First, we add a <strong>Perlin Noise<\/strong> component, where we set a dark brown and a dark grey color. We then feed that into the background of a <strong>Cells<\/strong> component, which a rather small scale and a mid yellow brown color as <em>Noise<\/em>. This will be a perfect sand or mortar background, for the cracks.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/4eyes.code66.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/07\/pil21.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-4553\" title=\"pil21\" src=\"http:\/\/4eyes.code66.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/07\/pil21.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"450\" height=\"368\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Now we clone the <strong>Cells<\/strong> component, and change the <em>Noise<\/em> to dark grey, keeping the black <em>Background<\/em>. This we feed into the <strong>Threshold<\/strong> component, instead of just black as we did yesterday.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/4eyes.code66.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/07\/pil22.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-4552\" title=\"pil22\" src=\"http:\/\/4eyes.code66.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/07\/pil22.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"450\" height=\"179\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Now we add an <strong>Image<\/strong> component, which allow us to feed an image into the filter. We copy the <strong>Threshold<\/strong> component, and feed the <strong>Image<\/strong> as <em>High<\/em>, and he mortar we did as the <em>Low<\/em>, using the same <em>Source<\/em> as the other <strong>Threshold<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/4eyes.code66.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/07\/pil23.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-4551\" title=\"pil23\" src=\"http:\/\/4eyes.code66.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/07\/pil23.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"302\" height=\"300\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Now we change the <strong>Result<\/strong> component from a simple to a surface, and feed the first, old <strong>Threshold<\/strong> as <em>Height<\/em>, and the new <strong>Threshold<\/strong> with the image as <em>Surface Color<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/4eyes.code66.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/07\/pil24.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-4550\" title=\"pil24\" src=\"http:\/\/4eyes.code66.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/07\/pil24.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"450\" height=\"450\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>This is the result when we run the filter on the old texture map we had.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/4eyes.code66.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/07\/pil25.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-4549\" title=\"pil25\" src=\"http:\/\/4eyes.code66.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/07\/pil25.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"450\" height=\"450\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>And this is the new bump map. I did not reuse the old one as you never know what settings have changed.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/4eyes.code66.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/07\/pil26.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-4547\" title=\"pil26\" src=\"http:\/\/4eyes.code66.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/07\/pil26.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"450\" height=\"450\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>And this is the new cracked decorative tiles.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/4eyes.code66.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/07\/pil27.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-4548\" title=\"pil27\" src=\"http:\/\/4eyes.code66.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/07\/pil27.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"450\" height=\"450\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>And as the decorative tiles could render a bump map, I rendered one and then applied the cracked filter on that too, with the same settings.<\/p>\n<p>We now open up <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cheetah3d.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Cheetah3D<\/a>, and replace the old maps with the new ones, and render.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/4eyes.code66.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/07\/pil28.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-4546\" title=\"pil28\" src=\"http:\/\/4eyes.code66.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/07\/pil28.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"324\" height=\"776\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>And here it is, our 2000 years old, dirty and cracked egyptian decorated stone pillar. This is what I call good work.<\/p>\n<p>And here is the new version of the filter as well.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/4eyes.code66.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/07\/cracked-2.ffxml_.zip\">cracked-2.ffxml.zip<\/a><\/p>\n<p>So, we have gone from nice and clean to broken and dirty in two days, that must be a record, time files.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Today we&#8217;re gonna be really destructive, and add another dimension of mayhem to our pillars.
