We will make a crocodile amulet.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>First, we&#8217;re gonna make a background for the relief, and I know this is a quick a dirty version, but it suits my purpose.<\/p>\n<p>We start <a href=\"http:\/\/www.omnigroup.com\/applications\/omnigraffle\/\" target=\"_blank\">OmniGraffle<\/a>, and create an oval. On that oval we stick a crocodile prop that I&#8217;ve downloaded from <a href=\"http:\/\/www.dundjinni.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Dundjinni<\/a> before.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/4eyes.code66.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/09\/amu01.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-5017\" title=\"amu01\" src=\"http:\/\/4eyes.code66.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/09\/amu01.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"400\" height=\"236\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Now, we start <a href=\"http:\/\/www.filterforge.com\/?affiliateid=200100725\" target=\"_blank\">FilterForge<\/a> and I will use a filter called Metalizer by Kochubey, but I modified it to honor the alpha channel. I render a texture map,<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/4eyes.code66.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/09\/amu01a.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-5015\" title=\"amu01a\" src=\"http:\/\/4eyes.code66.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/09\/amu01a.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"400\" height=\"243\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>And a normal map<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/4eyes.code66.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/09\/amu01b.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-5014\" title=\"amu01b\" src=\"http:\/\/4eyes.code66.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/09\/amu01b.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"400\" height=\"243\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Now I start <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cheetah3d.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Cheetah3D<\/a> and create a circular plane.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/4eyes.code66.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/09\/amu02.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-5016\" title=\"amu02\" src=\"http:\/\/4eyes.code66.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/09\/amu02.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"400\" height=\"268\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>We shape it as an oval, then we create a material from the texture and normal maps and apply those, setting it to use transparency from alpha channel.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-5013\" title=\"amu03\" src=\"http:\/\/4eyes.code66.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/09\/amu03.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"400\" height=\"255\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Now we create a spline, click in a ring, and we then sweep the spline using a circle.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/4eyes.code66.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/09\/amu04.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-5012\" title=\"amu04\" src=\"http:\/\/4eyes.code66.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/09\/amu04.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"400\" height=\"281\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Now we place the spline together with the amulet, letting it pass through it.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/4eyes.code66.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/09\/amu07.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-5009\" title=\"amu07\" src=\"http:\/\/4eyes.code66.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/09\/amu07.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"400\" height=\"370\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>We create a leather texture in FilterForge using one of Constantin Malkovs filters, showing below, but I did not upload the normal map as it was 177 kB due to the complexity of the leather surface.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/4eyes.code66.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/09\/amu05.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-5011\" title=\"amu05\" src=\"http:\/\/4eyes.code66.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/09\/amu05.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"400\" height=\"400\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>After creating a new material and applying it to the string, we got this lovely amulet.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/4eyes.code66.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/09\/amu08.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-5008\" title=\"amu08\" src=\"http:\/\/4eyes.code66.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/09\/amu08.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"400\" height=\"358\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>I hope you like it.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Today we&#8217;re gonna make something I just wanted to hide from my players as this is crucial in the adventure Cricket &amp; Crocodiles for Openration:Fallen Reich, and it would be a spoiler.
