{"id":5098,"date":"2010-09-21T07:00:59","date_gmt":"2010-09-21T05:00:59","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/4eyes.code66.se\/?p=5098"},"modified":"2010-09-18T15:18:10","modified_gmt":"2010-09-18T13:18:10","slug":"making-a-modern-fireplace-part-one","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/4eyes.code66.se\/?p=5098","title":{"rendered":"Making a modern fireplace &#8211; part one"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Still working on the map for All Guns Blazing, and I ned a fireplace, but a modern one.<\/p>\n<p><!--more-->So, no time to waste, jump in to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cheetah3d.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Cheetah3D<\/a> and create a Cylinder, where we set the edges to only eight, making it look like this.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/4eyes.code66.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/09\/firep1-01.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-5104\" title=\"firep1-01\" src=\"http:\/\/4eyes.code66.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/09\/firep1-01.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"398\" height=\"484\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Now, we use the Taper tool to shape it like a fireplace, or something like that.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/4eyes.code66.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/09\/firep1-02.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-5103\" title=\"firep1-02\" src=\"http:\/\/4eyes.code66.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/09\/firep1-02.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"400\" height=\"558\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>For this, I thought of using a texture rendered in <a href=\"http:\/\/www.filterforge.com\/?affiliateid=200100725\" target=\"_blank\">FilterForge<\/a> with a filter created by the talented Sjeiti, Delfts blauw. First the texture map,<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/4eyes.code66.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/09\/firep1-03.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-5102\" title=\"firep1-03\" src=\"http:\/\/4eyes.code66.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/09\/firep1-03.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"400\" height=\"400\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>and here is the Normal map<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/4eyes.code66.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/09\/firep1-04.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-5101\" title=\"firep1-04\" src=\"http:\/\/4eyes.code66.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/09\/firep1-04.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"400\" height=\"400\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Now, it is a tiresome job to UV map this, but I do it a little fast and not very carefully. If you look at the middle section, you can see to the left, the polygons have been UV-mapped, but to the right is the original mapping made when the texture was applied.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/4eyes.code66.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/09\/firep1-05.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-5100\" title=\"firep1-05\" src=\"http:\/\/4eyes.code66.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/09\/firep1-05.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"319\" height=\"738\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Now, we create a Chimney using another Octagon Cylinder, where I set the division for the ends to three. I then selected the center polygons and just moved then down, creating an illusion of a deep pipe.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/4eyes.code66.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/09\/firep1-06.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-5099\" title=\"firep1-06\" src=\"http:\/\/4eyes.code66.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/09\/firep1-06.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"361\" height=\"378\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>So, how will this look?
