I&#8217;ve used Carls FilterForge filter before, but I though it was time to make them i 3D.<\/p>\n<p><!--more-->So, we start up <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cheetah3d.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Cheetah3D<\/a>, and make a Box, that we flatten like a slice of a cube.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/4eyes.code66.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/10\/rail1-01.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-5324\" title=\"rail1-01\" src=\"http:\/\/4eyes.code66.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/10\/rail1-01.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"212\" height=\"509\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>We use the Taper tool on the block to change its shape a little.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/4eyes.code66.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/10\/rail1-02.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-5323\" title=\"rail1-02\" src=\"http:\/\/4eyes.code66.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/10\/rail1-02.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"259\" height=\"509\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Now we create a Cylinder and make it a little oval, before we place it on top if the block.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/4eyes.code66.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/10\/rail1-03.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-5322\" title=\"rail1-03\" src=\"http:\/\/4eyes.code66.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/10\/rail1-03.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"358\" height=\"383\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>We then join the objects, and then we create a box that surrounds it, almost, and use the Boolean intersect operation.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/4eyes.code66.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/10\/rail1-04.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-5321\" title=\"rail1-04\" src=\"http:\/\/4eyes.code66.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/10\/rail1-04.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"329\" height=\"493\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Now we add another box, make it flat and place it below the current object, and join the together with a Boolean.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/4eyes.code66.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/10\/rail1-05.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-5320\" title=\"rail1-05\" src=\"http:\/\/4eyes.code66.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/10\/rail1-05.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"273\" height=\"252\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>A slice of railway tracks. Now we stretch the rail, copy it and place the two copies side by side. We then create a stretched box and use an Array to multiply it, wo got sleepers.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/4eyes.code66.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/10\/rail1-06.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-5319\" title=\"rail1-06\" src=\"http:\/\/4eyes.code66.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/10\/rail1-06.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"400\" height=\"303\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>We use a built in steel texture on the rails, and a modified built in wood texture for the sleepers.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/4eyes.code66.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/10\/rail1-07.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-5318\" title=\"rail1-07\" src=\"http:\/\/4eyes.code66.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/10\/rail1-07.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"400\" height=\"234\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Now, all we need are nails, big railroad nails, so we create a box, make it about half height and set division to 4.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/4eyes.code66.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/10\/rail1-08.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-5317\" title=\"rail1-08\" src=\"http:\/\/4eyes.code66.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/10\/rail1-08.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"229\" height=\"164\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>We Catmull-Clark subdivide it, and place it in position, using the Array to multiply it.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/4eyes.code66.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/10\/rail1-09.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-5316\" title=\"rail1-09\" src=\"http:\/\/4eyes.code66.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/10\/rail1-09.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"208\" height=\"130\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>And here it is, a railroad track made in Cheetah3D.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/4eyes.code66.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/10\/rail1-10.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-5315\" title=\"rail1-10\" src=\"http:\/\/4eyes.code66.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/10\/rail1-10.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"400\" height=\"509\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>This looks great, too great, we need it to be more worn and rusty.
