Anyway, something that sits on the ground enabling air to move down to the underground tunnels. I&#8217;ve decided to give Carrara 8 a real go today, and make an object using it from scratch.<\/p>\n<p><!--more-->So, we start <a href=\"http:\/\/www.daz3d.com\/i\/software\/carrara8\/carrara_pro?_m=d\" target=\"_blank\">Carrara 8<\/a> and go to work. We create two boxes for this, as you can see, I played with some of the built in textures here.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/4eyes.code66.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/10\/vent01.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-5349\" title=\"vent01\" src=\"http:\/\/4eyes.code66.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/10\/vent01.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"386\" height=\"440\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Now, we crate some real textures using <a href=\"http:\/\/www.filterforge.com\/?affiliateid=200100725\" target=\"_blank\">FilterForge<\/a>. First a concrete texture using my painted on concrete, without any paintings. Here is the texture map.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/4eyes.code66.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/10\/vent02.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-5348\" title=\"vent02\" src=\"http:\/\/4eyes.code66.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/10\/vent02.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"400\" height=\"400\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>And here is the Normal Map (Direct-X style).<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/4eyes.code66.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/10\/vent03.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-5347\" title=\"vent03\" src=\"http:\/\/4eyes.code66.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/10\/vent03.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"396\" height=\"396\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Now, we need a a texture for the tower, and I found this great filter by Angelboli, here is the texture map.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/4eyes.code66.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/10\/vent04.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-5346\" title=\"vent04\" src=\"http:\/\/4eyes.code66.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/10\/vent04.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"396\" height=\"396\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>And the Normal map.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/4eyes.code66.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/10\/vent05.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-5345\" title=\"vent05\" src=\"http:\/\/4eyes.code66.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/10\/vent05.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"396\" height=\"396\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>After applying the textures, we create a cube, where we move the corners of the top polygons inwards, to make it like a pyramid.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/4eyes.code66.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/10\/vent06.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-5344\" title=\"vent06\" src=\"http:\/\/4eyes.code66.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/10\/vent06.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"375\" height=\"569\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>We need a texture for that roof, and what is better that some galvanized metal? Also made by a FilterForge Filter.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/4eyes.code66.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/10\/vent07.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-5343\" title=\"vent07\" src=\"http:\/\/4eyes.code66.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/10\/vent07.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"396\" height=\"396\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>And here it is, rendered with a little angle so some details can be seen. If you wonder what that black square on the top is, I won&#8217;t say until I&#8217;ve played the adventure.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/4eyes.code66.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/10\/vent09.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-5341\" title=\"vent09\" src=\"http:\/\/4eyes.code66.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/10\/vent09.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"200\" height=\"229\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>And here it is on the map.
