{"id":6182,"date":"2011-01-11T07:00:36","date_gmt":"2011-01-11T05:00:36","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/4eyes.code66.se\/?p=6182"},"modified":"2011-01-11T09:13:57","modified_gmt":"2011-01-11T07:13:57","slug":"van-richtens-mytical-cage-part-one","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/4eyes.code66.se\/?p=6182","title":{"rendered":"Van Richten&#8217;s Mytical Cage &#8211; part one"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Hello, yet another art request challenge at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.dundjinni.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Dundjinni<\/a> forum that I at first thought I din&#8217;t really have time with, but when <a href=\"http:\/\/www.greytale.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">greytale<\/a> wrote the following post I just had to do it.<\/p>\n<p>greytale wrote:<\/p>\n<p><em>Interesting project and a great challenge for establishing depth.<br \/>\nI started poking around with a 2d speed version so we will see how it fares against my 3d cohorts.<br \/>\nI am sure that by the time I finished typing this Totte will have released this, three more pieces, and an article.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a04eyes rules!<\/em><\/p>\n<p>So, to not disappoint my friend greytale, here we go!<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><a href=\"http:\/\/4eyes.code66.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/01\/rac101.jpg\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>After the original art request, someone requested some kind of drawing or picture of the item the original poster wanted, and this was the drawing we got.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/4eyes.code66.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/01\/rac101.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-6183\" title=\"rac101\" src=\"http:\/\/4eyes.code66.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/01\/rac101.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"400\" height=\"455\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Let&#8217;s start the render engines and fire up <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cheetah3d.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Cheetah3D<\/a>, and create a tube object. We will use it for the lower ring, so we shape it like that.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/4eyes.code66.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/01\/rac102.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-6184\" title=\"rac102\" src=\"http:\/\/4eyes.code66.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/01\/rac102.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"400\" height=\"192\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Now we make a second tube, and size it to be the groove filled with holy water.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/4eyes.code66.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/01\/rac103.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-6185\" title=\"rac103\" src=\"http:\/\/4eyes.code66.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/01\/rac103.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"400\" height=\"201\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>We do a Boolean remove, to get the groove.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/4eyes.code66.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/01\/rac104.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-6186\" title=\"rac104\" src=\"http:\/\/4eyes.code66.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/01\/rac104.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"400\" height=\"204\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Now, we create yet another ube, this one will be the actual water.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/4eyes.code66.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/01\/rac105.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-6187\" title=\"rac105\" src=\"http:\/\/4eyes.code66.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/01\/rac105.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"400\" height=\"237\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>And here we have the water in place. It looks rather dull when all objects are untextured.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/4eyes.code66.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/01\/rac106.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-6188\" title=\"rac106\" src=\"http:\/\/4eyes.code66.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/01\/rac106.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"400\" height=\"211\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>We add a wood texture to the ring, and water to the water. Then we create another tube, this one rotated 90 degrees.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/4eyes.code66.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/01\/rac107.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-6189\" title=\"rac107\" src=\"http:\/\/4eyes.code66.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/01\/rac107.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"400\" height=\"345\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>We create a box, and then remove the lower parts of the ring with a Boolean remove.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/4eyes.code66.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/01\/rac108.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-6190\" title=\"rac108\" src=\"http:\/\/4eyes.code66.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/01\/rac108.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"400\" height=\"351\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Now we create a cube, and we use edge move to move two edges very close so se get a triangular shape. This will be the candle holders.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/4eyes.code66.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/01\/rac109.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-6191\" title=\"rac109\" src=\"http:\/\/4eyes.code66.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/01\/rac109.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"378\" height=\"288\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>We add a cylinder to the candle holder, and set some wood texture to it as well.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/4eyes.code66.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/01\/rac110.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-6192\" title=\"rac110\" src=\"http:\/\/4eyes.code66.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/01\/rac110.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"262\" height=\"187\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Now we add another cylinder and use a white texture to it, the candle itself. We add a light to it too.
