{"id":6345,"date":"2011-02-22T07:00:06","date_gmt":"2011-02-22T05:00:06","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/4eyes.code66.se\/?p=6345"},"modified":"2011-02-15T13:20:53","modified_gmt":"2011-02-15T11:20:53","slug":"mapping-the-promised-land-part-ten","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/4eyes.code66.se\/?p=6345","title":{"rendered":"Mapping the Promised Land &#8211; Part ten"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Today we&#8217;re gonna finish up the crew quarters and add some more nifty details to the main deck.<\/p>\n<p><!--more-->First we star <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cheetah3d.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Cheetah3D<\/a> to create a railing around the stairs to prevent our heroes from falling down and hurt them self.<\/p>\n<p>We create three cylinders that we place like this:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/4eyes.code66.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/02\/pl801.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-6354\" title=\"pl801\" src=\"http:\/\/4eyes.code66.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/02\/pl801.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"400\" height=\"274\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Then we use some nifty but boring Boolean unions and remove to make it look better. We use a HDRI environment and a metal chrome texture.<\/p>\n<p>This is the stairs we made before, just some darkness added below to get the impressing of something leading down. The whole map is assembled in <a href=\"http:\/\/www.omnigroup.com\/applications\/omnigraffle\/\" target=\"_blank\">OmniGraffle<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/4eyes.code66.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/02\/pl802.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-6353\" title=\"pl802\" src=\"http:\/\/4eyes.code66.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/02\/pl802.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"162\" height=\"219\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Now we add the railing and some border shadows.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/4eyes.code66.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/02\/pl803.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-6352\" title=\"pl803\" src=\"http:\/\/4eyes.code66.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/02\/pl803.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"188\" height=\"232\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>This looks much better. We jump into <a href=\"http:\/\/www.daz3d.com\/i\/software\/daz_studio3?_m=d\" target=\"_blank\">DAZ Studio<\/a> and render some lockers from the Sci-Fi furniture set, then open them up in OmniGraffle to adjust the size and add some drop shadows.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/4eyes.code66.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/02\/pl806.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-6349\" title=\"pl806\" src=\"http:\/\/4eyes.code66.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/02\/pl806.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"159\" height=\"284\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>And these kitchen kits.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/4eyes.code66.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/02\/pl901.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-6365\" title=\"pl901\" src=\"http:\/\/4eyes.code66.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/02\/pl901.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"297\" height=\"268\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>We now jump to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.filterforge.com\/?affiliateid=200100725\" target=\"_blank\">FilterForge<\/a> to make some simple metal textures for some benches. First we make a lighter one.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/4eyes.code66.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/02\/pl804.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-6351\" title=\"pl804\" src=\"http:\/\/4eyes.code66.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/02\/pl804.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"400\" height=\"400\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Then we make a darker one.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/4eyes.code66.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/02\/pl805.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-6350\" title=\"pl805\" src=\"http:\/\/4eyes.code66.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/02\/pl805.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"400\" height=\"400\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>We now create a rectangle in OmniGraffle and set the light texture as image, in a tiling mode.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/4eyes.code66.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/02\/pl807.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-6348\" title=\"pl807\" src=\"http:\/\/4eyes.code66.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/02\/pl807.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"252\" height=\"133\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>We add another rectangle behind this one with the darker texture. Set some corner radius, and we got a table. We copy the two objects and reshape and we got two tables or benches.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/4eyes.code66.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/02\/pl808.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-6347\" title=\"pl808\" src=\"http:\/\/4eyes.code66.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/02\/pl808.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"400\" height=\"278\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Ans as you can see, the crew quarters ar coming along nicely.
