{"id":6411,"date":"2011-03-04T07:00:40","date_gmt":"2011-03-04T05:00:40","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/4eyes.code66.se\/?p=6411"},"modified":"2011-02-27T00:50:29","modified_gmt":"2011-02-26T22:50:29","slug":"making-a-small-ugly-ship-map","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/4eyes.code66.se\/?p=6411","title":{"rendered":"making a small ugly ship map"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>OK, I needed a map for a smaller ship, and some cargo for it too, so this post will show many different things, as I always do many things when making a map.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><a href=\"http:\/\/4eyes.code66.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/02\/fugu01.jpg\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>First, we start <a title=\"FilterForge\" href=\"http:\/\/www.filterforge.com\/?affiliateid=200100725\" target=\"_blank\">FilterForge<\/a> to make some Sci-Fi looking containers, using a filter from the repository. Here are two models.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/4eyes.code66.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/02\/fugu01.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-6420\" title=\"fugu01\" src=\"http:\/\/4eyes.code66.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/02\/fugu01.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"400\" height=\"400\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/4eyes.code66.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/02\/fugu02.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-6419\" title=\"fugu02\" src=\"http:\/\/4eyes.code66.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/02\/fugu02.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"400\" height=\"400\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>I then dragged those images into <a title=\"OmniGroup\" href=\"http:\/\/www.omnigroup.com\/applications\/omnigraffle\/\" target=\"_blank\">OmniGraffle<\/a> to scale them and add some drop shadow, then exported them as usable props.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/4eyes.code66.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/02\/fugu03.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-6418\" title=\"fugu03\" src=\"http:\/\/4eyes.code66.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/02\/fugu03.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"186\" height=\"400\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Ten metal crates with different colors and design, all to go with Dundjinni or even Fractal Mapper. But, as usual I won&#8217;t stop at that.Remember that I made those crates for <a title=\"Poser\" href=\"http:\/\/poser.smithmicro.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Poser<\/a>\/<a title=\"DAZ Studio\" href=\"http:\/\/poser.smithmicro.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">DAZ Studio<\/a> before. So I use these textures to create a bunch of new MAT poses for Poser\/DAZ Studio. Here they are in DAZ Studio.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/4eyes.code66.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/02\/fugu04.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-6417\" title=\"fugu04\" src=\"http:\/\/4eyes.code66.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/02\/fugu04.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"400\" height=\"138\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Now, I have a map to map, see how easily you get distracted. I need a ladder leading from one floor to another, so time to bring up <a title=\"Cheetah 3D\" href=\"http:\/\/www.cheetah3d.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Cheetah3D<\/a> to do some modeling. First we create a Pipe object.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/4eyes.code66.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/02\/fugu05.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-6416\" title=\"fugu05\" src=\"http:\/\/4eyes.code66.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/02\/fugu05.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"269\" height=\"327\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>We size and shape it to look like this:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/4eyes.code66.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/02\/fugu06.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-6415\" title=\"fugu06\" src=\"http:\/\/4eyes.code66.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/02\/fugu06.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"400\" height=\"225\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Now we use a Boolean Remove and a Box to cut away half of it.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/4eyes.code66.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/02\/fugu07.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-6414\" title=\"fugu07\" src=\"http:\/\/4eyes.code66.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/02\/fugu07.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"400\" height=\"302\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>We create two side rails using cylinders, and also a bar using a cylinder.
