How can you make something like this manually without a fancy filter? As you now can see, painting and fiddling with pixels isn&#8217;t my specialty, but this is a proven technique, here just simply explained, and this is what my filter does.<\/p>\n<p>You start with several pieces of a similar texture (in this case just two).<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/4eyes.code66.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/09\/wood1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-752\" title=\"wood1\" src=\"http:\/\/4eyes.code66.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/09\/wood1.jpg\" alt=\"wood1\" width=\"120\" height=\"120\" \/><\/a><a href=\"http:\/\/4eyes.code66.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/09\/wood2.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-754\" title=\"wood2\" src=\"http:\/\/4eyes.code66.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/09\/wood2.jpg\" alt=\"wood2\" width=\"120\" height=\"120\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Then you decide which one is your &#8220;tile master&#8221;, and cut a hole in it like this:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/4eyes.code66.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/09\/wood1.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-753\" title=\"wood1\" src=\"http:\/\/4eyes.code66.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/09\/wood1.png\" alt=\"wood1\" width=\"120\" height=\"120\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Then you use a graphics program with layers (Photoshop, or in my case OmniGraffle), and put this frame over the other tiles, like this:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/4eyes.code66.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/09\/wood1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-752\" title=\"wood1\" src=\"http:\/\/4eyes.code66.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/09\/wood1.jpg\" alt=\"wood1\" width=\"120\" height=\"120\" \/><\/a><a href=\"http:\/\/4eyes.code66.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/09\/woodmix.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-755\" title=\"woodmix\" src=\"http:\/\/4eyes.code66.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/09\/woodmix.jpg\" alt=\"woodmix\" width=\"120\" height=\"120\" \/><\/a><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-752\" title=\"wood1\" src=\"http:\/\/4eyes.code66.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/09\/wood1.jpg\" alt=\"wood1\" width=\"120\" height=\"120\" \/><\/p>\n<p>See, they tile perfectly, and if I had been more of an artist, you would just notice that the center of the picture is different in the middle one, so they would look different, but still tile.<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;ve just decided that tomorrow we&#8217;re gonna curt some maps.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Filter time again, making multi tile textures for use in Dundjinni (and many other mapping applications as well).
