OK, we have a house to build in OmniGraffle, one of many, and a lot of stuff to put into it.

So, today we will put in some doors and windows, then create something for the pig to eat from, as you always have pigs running loose in fantasy villages.

First, windows and doors.

h2-1

Two doors added, I used some of my own preset doors for this.

h2-2

And in the large room, we use a quilt curtain separate what will be the kitchen from the rest of the house.

h2-3

And for windows, I used an old window I once did, but it is still good. I will make a new one soon, when I have upgraded to Cheetah 3D 5.0 (still a little low on cash).

Now, something for the pig.

So, we start Cheetah3D, and create a box that we stretch out a little, like this.

So, now we use the taper tool to reshape it, like this:

ho-2

We make a copy of the reshaped object, shrink it a little, then position it inside the original.

ho-3

Now, we use the boolean operator to remove the smaller one from the larger one, my favorite operation I think.
Just imagine a hammer and a chisel and you understand why I like it.

ho-4

This is the result. We change the height a little to make it fit what we wanna do, then it is time to render a nice wood texture, in FilterForge as usual. This time I used Wood Generator by Apple a very nice new wood filter, perfect for things like this.

ho-5

This is a compressed version of the texture I used, I rendered it in 3000×3000 pixels, this one is compressed down to 400×400 and with more jpeg compression, but it still looks reasonable good.

So, now we need something for the pig to eat, so I add a terrain type plane that I position and resize as I want it, then I modify it a little with the modifier tool (magnet) to shape it as I want it.

ho-5

And, guess what, we need a texture for that one too, and FilterForge have some really nasty filters, I used one called Creepy by Vladimir Golovin which have the look and feel I want it to have.

ho-6

This looks nasty enough don’t you say?

So, and the final piece looks like this (I had to shrink it down and optimize it due to file size).

ho-7

A nice food tray for the pigs!
