Back to the nitty gritty of mapmaking today. You always have to divide the time between making objects and making maps, if you are doing object based mapmaking. Some, who can draw and who have artistic talent, can just draw the map using pencil or tablet, but for us who cannot draw, placing objects is what we will have to stick to.
So, we open up our map of Eastport in Dundjinni, and the first thing that hits me is that I want a river to run across the map in the south regions, and with a little delta. So I just draw more water with the water color.
Then I add the coastline to that, as we did before.
Now, we add waterfront and a water foam, you all know the rituals by now.
And at last, the edges, that is what give this the touch of reality that I like.
So, now we add some trees to the small islands in the little delta, and some logs, driftwoods, to add even more realism.
Now, Bogie has made a nice broken stone bridge, so I can use that and save the time for making my own, that is the main reason of sharing items, you save time, and everyone have different skills, making your items library the sum of everyones skills.
I have to fiddle a little with the top and bottom shadows, as the bridge isn’t supposed to be over the road, but at the same level as the road.
And at last, we can add our temple or shrine ruin to the map, and adding a narrow overgrown pathway to it from the main road.
Tomorrow, I think I’ll be placing some interesting ruins I’ve found on Dundjinni forum.
