Today, we need to make a new fireplace, as I’ve ran out of fireplaces to place in the tavern. As I’m closing in on 50 3×6 square pieces, the number of used items from my repository is reaching the limit, and I do not want to have too many reoccurring items, it looks cheap.

So, first, we start FilterForge and generate a new texture for the fireplace, and I create a new filter for this, as I had an idea of how I wished it to look.

Now, I made another version of the same texture by running the texture through another filter, that added soot to it.

And as it is the same texture, I can use the same bumpmap.

Now, into Cheetah3D and make a fireplace, having the design that Supercaptain used in my head. We make the top using a box and a Taper tool, like this.

And then we add a few boxes, add an old wood texture to one, and the use a Boolean to remove the actual fire place.

As you can see, I’ve added more textures, and here I use a box and Boolean remove to make the smoke pile that will go to the chimney.

And here it is, using the sooted texture in the chimney and in the fire place. I also added a few of my fire woods and a burning coal into the fireplace. It doesn’t show that much, but it looks much better with than without it. It looked dead with that “hole” empty.

So, tomorrow I think it is more stoves on the list, I’ve made almost half a dozen kitchens by now.
