Today, we’re gonna make a uptown tavern bar, not every bar is in the dock area, frequented by shady figures with eye patches and growing beards. Some are located in the noble quarters, with nice and clean bars, and that is what I need for some of my upcoming B-sections.
So, first, we need some nice looking wood textures for bars, and I have an idea of a round bar. So, we start FilterForge, and I create a very quick filter, based on the Wood-filter that comes with every FilterForge as one of the default filters. Yes, that is one of the great things, you can modify any filter to fit you needs, but you do not publish those filters, ripoffs isn’t polite, but you can use them for your own needs, that one of the good things. Here are two of the wood textures for the bar. Nice woodwork by the carpenter I must say.
And, we need stools, stools with a little class, so I make a few leather textures using a good leather filter, and some cloth too. Here are one leather texture and the bumpmap.
Now, I start Cheetah3D, making a ball that I shape like a lens, almost flat.
I add a torus ring around it, and add four small balls, one in each “corner”, to simulate legs. Here are some of the stools, using reflective metal textures for the framing.
I made about 12 different stools I think. The stools will be available in my next Dundjinni artpack, they are so nice. Now, I make the bar using a cylinder , very flat, and I then Boolean remove the center, and frame it with a torus ring. Last, I remove the opening from both items with a Boolean remove.
And here is the final bar, using a lot of items from Greytale and several other artists. It was as always mounted in OmniGraffle.
One thing, the reason I post JPG images and not PNGs is that PNGs are so much heavier in bandwidth, and I only have a 4MBit line, that I need to use for other things than only feeding 4eyes viewers. One day I might move 4eyes to a remote location, or get myself better bandwidth, until then, there will be JPGs only.
