I’ve been making some tiles for The Neverending Docks, but mostly I’ve been using stuff that I’ve already have made, just using them in other situations.
But, I’ve also done some fun new things, and I will just show off a few here.
First, I made two pretty simple fishing rods in Cheetah3D, just a Tapered Cylinder, nothing fancy, with the built in old wood texture.
What is a shore, a jetty or a pier without fishing rods?
Now I spent the weekend in the cottage installing a new water heater, so I only had my old white MacBook with me, and an older version of Cheetah3D, but I did manage to create an old rusty metal ring for the docks. This is the render straight out of Cheetah3D.
And this is the one that has been scaled to fit the map, and with some shadows added in OmniGraffle. Look close and you can still see the nails holding it.
So, I got a little creative, with the new beta of FilterForge 2, and I created a filter to create an old jetty. This will come handy for all the waterfront tiles I’m working on.
I think this looks pretty nice, and old. So, what have I done more?
I’ve used one of my oldest FilterForge filters to create a dried sea bed, which I will use to make a water texture.
Using the incredible great filter water caustics by Redcap, I turned that seabed into a vivid shallow water.
And here is a part of the docks, with fishing rods.
So, this looks like a peaceful dockside.
