Everything must come to an end, and I won’t be making more wine presses for a while, thats for sure, but it has been a pretty fun experience, and useful.

I said a few days ago, I would love to taste the wine after some agin in a barrel, so let us make one.We start FilterForge and render yet another striped wood texture with my new favorite filter.

The diffuse map.

And the bump map.

Now, we start Cheetah3D and create a cylinder.

Doing the copy, move, shrink and boolean remove operation, we got a base for the barrel.

We bulge it a little, then we

add the texture to it and UV-map it cylinder mapped.

Now, we create a circular plane, add the wine “water” texture to it, size it to fit inside the barrel.

Now, a small pipe that we will use as the iron ring, center iron ring.

We tighten it up, and move it into the dead center.

We copy that ring, and taper it to fit on the curved surface of the barrel. We also add a brushed metal texture to it, not rusty, it is a brand new barrel.

We copy that last ring, rotate 180 degrees around the z-axis and move it down, we’re done. Here is the final render.

I hope you enjoyed it, now a glass of Egyptian ancient red wine would be perfect. You might say that I should added an amphora instead of a barrel, but a barrel is so much more fantasy.
