So, I’m still working a little on the Neverending Docks, and I needed a fence to keep the horses from running away.

I start off by starting Cheetah3D, and creating a cylinder.

I shape it like a long thin pole.

Then I taper it, to look like a piece of a tree.

Now, I need some bark, and I’m using a good bark filter for FilterForge that I’ve found a long time ago.

Here is the diffuse map.

And here is the bump map.

Now I rotate the pole, and make 4 copies of it that I move a little to the right for each copy, like this. I also make four side poles, two standing up on each side.

I set down to fow, Field of view, to just 10 degrees for this render, to avoid the side poles from getting perspectives, which will look rather stupid when the fence is placed on a map.

And here is a piece of the tile with the fence.

I think it looks very much like a typical Swedish type of fence, that we call gärsgård here in Sweden, but I didn’t find any good translation of.
