So, we’re gonna continue with that engine block today, let’s see what we can do with it?
OK, I lied, I did have some pictures to look at yesterday, here are two of them.
So now we can start Cheetah3D (or should I maybe call it Cheater3D today?)
We create an array object, and repeat out block 12 times, 12 cylinders in this engine, and twin engines in the submarine, one for each drive shaft. Now we’re talking engine look. I also added a rounded cap on the top of the block, looked much better, you can almost see the cylinders now.
Now I create another cylinder with high polygon count, and bend it 180 degrees.
I place it on one of the blocks, the first, and give it a copper texture, then use the array object again to repeat it 12 times.
Now, I create a spline sprocket, and extrude it.
Shrink it and add a small cone hat to it, and give it a darker metal texture.
Using the array tool again, I get 12 of these, one on top of each block.
Now, adding a few boxes and cylinders, and the speed governor, the most important part, I got myself a pretty decent diesel engine.
This one looks pretty nice don’t you think? Oily but on perfect working order.
And here is a png that I uploaded on imageshack.
Hope you enjoyed it!
