I needed some wall mounted lights for the map, electric lamps that look modern but still not too modern. I think they look too modern for 1930, but I wasn’t around at the time and finding picture of wall mounted lamps from that time was really hard.
So, this is a Cheetah3D job. We start with a Ball and a Box, like this.
Then we cut away half the Ball using the Box and a Boolean remove. We add a flat torus ring around the back of the half ball.
We add another Box and cur away the backside of the Torus ring using a Boolean remove.
Now, we add a light texture with a lot of emission to the half Ball, the light glass. We create a Pipe, and place it so it will be visible on the front side of the lamp, cutting it clean on the back side with yet another box and boolean remove.
We them add metal textures to the torus ring and the pipe, the two metal pieces of the lamp, and make the glow more yellow.
So, here is the lamp.
Now we need some light effects, so we create a new filter in FilterForge for that, using polygons and blurs. Here is a light effect.
Now we assemble in OmniGraffle, here is the result, sized for Dundjinni.
And here it is in the map.
I think this one was really nice, and the result is really good looking.
