I’ve been looking real close several times at the Serenity RPG. I got the Serenity PDF in the Gamers supporting Haiti bundle after the Haiti earthquake, and I’ve looked at it several times thinking this is a game I must make adventures for. The game is not only good, the design of the book is extra ordinary great with lots of color pictures and maps. So I finally decided to start to make something for this game, and I decided to start out with a little star map of a small part of the ‘Verse, where I will place my adventures.

Today we’re gonna let FilterForge work hard, and the library is filled with great space-oriented filters that I haven’t bothered with yet. Filters for space, nebulas, planets, just about anything you need for a good space map. So we start out with a space background, rendered in FilterForge with a filter I downloaded from the library.

Now, I created a nebula using another filter.

And we need planets and moons, so using a few different filters for that, I got some planets and moons. A dark arid planet.

And another strange planet with some atmosphere.

And here is another one.

And a star or sun.

Now, I started to assemble everything using OmniGraffle. And here is the basic map.

Using FilterForge again to make a Frame, and then adding some more text using OmniGraffle, I think I got a pretty good star map.

I think this map is up to the standards of a Serenity supplement. I’m happy with this one.
