We’re back to making the Promised Land map, and today we’re gonna make a ladder, which I found I need but did not have, not a spaceship ladder anyway. A wooden ladder just won’t do.

We will make it in Cheetah3D, as usual, but I’m gonna use some new ideas I’ve learned this time. We create a spline based rectangle, like this.

Then we create a spline based ring.

We now sweep the ring on the rectangle, to get this, a frame for the foot step.

Now we add a metal grid in the step, using a Box and the Array tool, nothing to see. We then launch FilterForge to create a texture, using basic metal by CFandM.

We add that texture to the steps. Now we multiply the steps, placing them at an equal distance and distribution along the stair. We now add a side to the stair using a Box that we rotate.

We set the texture to the side, and then we copy it and move it to the other side. We now create a Cylinder that we will use as railing. We size it and copy it to the other side.

We also add some railing supports. Then we Boolean join the objects into two objects, one for the steps and one for the frame and railing. This is to make it easy to create MAT poses for DAZ Studio where you can change the texture if a certain block. Here is a render of the stair.

And here it is in the belly of the Promised Land, leading up to the cargo bay catwalk.

Mission completed!
