Today we’re gonna make the encounter disposition for the level seven adventure. We base this on the disposition we did yesterday, but change some of the encounter difficulties, but now all.
The encounters we have made maps for and already defined in our heads are:
- E1 – The Golden Fox
- E2 – The Cellars
- E3 – The backyard
- E4 – The queen suite
- E5 – The Sewers
- E6 – The warehouse
- E7 – Zwesch room
- E8 – The Docks
- E9 – Kerricks hideout
OK, let’s see how close to 15.000 XP we will come. We can assume that for a level 7 party, they might be in level seven, having 10000-11000 XP, so we need 12000-15000 XP to come clean for a new level.
E1 – The Golden Fox
Coughing power bomb – Hazard : level 9lurker, 400 XP
Saving Joshof Gestrali, 100 XP
E2 – The cellar
(Level – 1 encounter) : 1250 X.P
E3 – The Backyard
(Level encounter ) : 1500 xp
E4 – Baroness room
Quest – Find the Baroness, 175 XP
E5 – The sewers
(level +1 encounter) : 1750 XP
E6 – The Warehouse
(level +3 encounter ): 2500 XP
E7 – Zwesch room
(level +4 encounter ): 3000 XP
E8 – The docks
(level +1 encounter): 1750 XP
E9 – Kerricks hideout
(level +3 encounter): 2500 XP
OK, how did we do? 400+100+1250+1500+175+1750+2500+3000+1750+2500 = 13425 XP
This time, we’re in target zone. Adding one more lower encounter will just spill time, and bumping them more will be too lethal. We don’t want to create an adventure with a 90% TPK probability, 20% is high enough.
As you notice, even if this adventure was “done” for 3.5, we need to change it to make it fit the 4E concept. Also, you never know if you have a balanced adventure until the first play.
So, anyone wanna playest when I’m ready? I have played it already on my groups, and they frequent this site too, trying to find hints on what to come up next, meta gamers. Ah, he renders a curtain, it might come a curtain then. Hmm, many new trees, with twisted roots, we’re gonna have a battle in the spooky forest soon.
Tomorrow I think we map up Kerricks hideout, a small house outside the city, on the country side, near a wood. Perhaps with a barn, something rural compared to everything else in this adventure so far.
