Today we’re gonna begin making a map of a saloon named Stars & Stallions, a proper name for a proper establishment. As I’ve used this saloon in 3D pictures for the adventure, I will use the same technique I did when making the Promised Land to make this one, render the 3D scene top down to get the layout.
OK, I needed a map for a smaller ship, and some cargo for it too, so this post will show many different things, as I always do many things when making a map.
So, we are making this using the tips I got, and hopefully this will be really good. Let’s wait no longer.
I’m taking a break in the map making because I learned something new that all you real 3D artists probably will laugh at, but for me it was a great new experience to master this. I looked at one of DreamLight’s tutorial movies and one thing he said suddenly made a whole lot of sense and I realized it was the missing piece of the puzzle with UV-mapping I’ve been struggling with.
As the Promised Land will be the crews home for weeks at a time in space, there will be need for many different kinds of activities to keep fit, this is one of them.
We’re gonna fill up the cargo space a little today, and also I’m gonna show you something I wanted to try that was really good.
Today we’re gonna finish up the crew quarters and add some more nifty details to the main deck.
Today we’re gonna make more things for the engine room, this time on the main deck. Room fillers are important to make a map stand out.
Today we’re gonna make some more spaceship fillers, a wall console for the cargo bay, as the original model has some kind of electrical consoles along the sides.
We’re back to making the Promised Land map, and today we’re gonna make a ladder, which I found I need but did not have, not a spaceship ladder anyway. A wooden ladder just won’t do.
