I’ve said that before and I say it again, the one feature that makes Vue outstanding is the EcoSystem, where you populate your scene with literately thousands of plants or objects. Using plants of the .veg (vegetation) type is better for larger areas of vegetation as you can use wind to cause then all to sway in a certain direction. But it is also great for rocks and buildings, a fast way to create a town or a city as I’ve shown here before.

Today we’re gonna go back to basics again and make an object to use in the map making. I’m making maps for the final part of Promised Land, and I got plenty of stuff to make, but sometimes I need objects that I do not still have, or is bored with.

Reavers!!!

We all get chills hearing that, and Reavers are really bad ass baddies, specially when they come in hordes of hundreds, the Uruk-Hai of the Serenity ‘Verse. I needed some pictures of Reavers for Promised Land and I needed some really ugly piercings for them.

Today we’re gonna make some good looking 3D props for use are ground in your close up scenes. They can tile, but they do have a rather hefty polygon count, so don’t add too many to a scene.

I’m taking a break in the map making because I learned something new that all you real 3D artists probably will laugh at, but for me it was a great new experience to master this. I looked at one of DreamLight’s tutorial movies and one thing he said suddenly made a whole lot of sense and I realized it was the missing piece of the puzzle with UV-mapping I’ve been struggling with.
